1. To start the creation process, double click on the icon that looks like the one below.






 

2. A window labeled My Computer will appear.






 

3. Locate the icon labeled Dial-Up Networking and then double click on it. The window below will appear.






 

4. If the window above appears you will have to have your Windows NT 4.0 server or work station CD handy. Just insert your system CD and click the Install button. The installer will lead you through the installation of Dial-UP Networking and Remote Access Services. You will have to restart after the installation is complete. Once you're finished with the restart just start at the beginning of this instruction.



If you do not see the window above then you already have Dial-Up Networking installed. The window below should appear.


5. Inside the Dial-Up Networking window click on the New button.
   

   
   

    

6. Inside the New Phonebook Entry window, Entry name: type in Konocti Net. Phone number: type in your local access number. If you have more than one local access number click on the Alternates.. button.



Click the OK button. Now inside the New Phone Book Entry window click on the Configure button which is next to your modem listed in the Dial using: section. The window below will appear.





 

Inside the the Phone number: window. Click the OK button.




 

Inside the Configure window. Click the OK button.




 

7. Now inside the Edit/New Phone Book Entry window click on the Server tab.






 

8. Inside the Server tab you should have the following selected:


• Dial-up server type: PPP; Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet.
• Network protocols should have TCP/IP selected.
• Enable software compression should be selected.

Now click the OK button inside the Server tab window.


 

9. Next, click on the Script tab.Under After dialing (login) make sure None is selected.






10. Now click on the Security tab.






 

11. Inside the Authentication and encryption policy make sure that Accept any authentication including clear text is selected. Now click on the OK button.



Now you will be prompted to Restart your computer.
